Instructions

  1. Melt butter in large pot
  2. Add enough grated carrot to cover the bottom of the pan. Cook until carrots are soft but not brown (~6 min)
  3. Add tomato paste and garlic and cook until fragrent (~30 sec)
  4. Add ground chuck, salt and pepper; breaking up into tiny pieces
  5. Add milk and bring to vigorous simmer. Cook until only clear milk fat remains (~10 - 15 min)
  6. Add the wine, pureed tomatos, tomato sauce, fresh thyme and bring to boil
  7. Transfer the mixture to a slow cooker / crock pot
  8. Cover and allow to come back up to boil
  9. Remove lid and cook until desired thickness (~6 - 7 hours)
